Viper Strike

Desktop computers these days give you the power to express yourself creatively in ways that were unpractical just a few years ago. Or to waste time in unprecedented ways. However you look at it, Sparks from the Smithy proudly presents its first movie, titled Viper Strike, which, thanks to the titles and credits, weighs in at over a minute long.

Production Notes

  • The tank model was built with various Lego sets
  • The animation was done using the stop-motion feature of a JVC GR-DVX digital video camera
  • The video was captured with an ATI 9800 Pro All-In-Wonder video card (because JVC has no drivers for Windows XP to directly transfer the digital video)
  • Sound effects were downloaded from free sound effects sites on the Internet
  • The background music is One Big Holiday by My Morning Jacket, from the Wired CD, allowing non-commercial sampling
  • All the audio was built up using Audacity 1.2.2
  • The final movie was assembled with Windows Movie Maker 2
