In January, my division manager invited me into his office to drop a bombshell: Logitech had decided to close the Draper office where I work, and move our operation to headquarters in Fremont, California. I was offered a nice relocation package if I would move to California, and a severance package if I wouldn’t. In my case, he added, if I wanted to work remotely, he might be able to work something out.

\nAfter some soul-searching, Shannon and I decided that we’d take that third option — working remotely — and this past week was my first in my new home office. So far it’s been good, and hopefully will continue to be so.<\/p>\n

In making the decision to stay with Logitech, and to stay here, the thought often crossed my mind that it’s really the first time I’ve deliberately chosen to live in Utah since leaving Oregon to attend BYU. I already had a job here before I graduated, and staying was just sticking to the default option. I considered the Bay Area, being the heart of technology, and all the cool things in San Francisco, but there are great things about Utah, too.<\/p>\n

I thought about writing about all of those things, but a few pictures can maybe do a better job.<\/p>\n
